첼리스트 제이 캠벨
다양한 레퍼토리와 폭넓은 음악적 취향으로 무장한 첼리스트 제이 캠벨은 2012년 콘서트 아티스트 길드 오디션에서 우승하였다. 캠벨은 BMI와 ASCAP재단의 후원을 받고 있으며, TV와 라디오 출연 외에 카네기 홀, 앨리스 털리 홀, 에버리 피셔 홀, 스위스 KKL, 아스펜 음악제에서 협연자로서 초청받고 있다.
우리 시대 음악에 헌신하는 음악가로서, 캠벨은 2013년 뉴욕 필하모닉과 탄둔의 곡을 연주, 호평을 받았으며 최근까지 엘리엇 카터, 피에르 불레즈, 카이야 사리아호, 존 아담스 등의 작곡가부터 색소폰 주자 스티브 콜맨, 록 밴드 라디오헤드의 멤버, 독일 인더스트리얼 아티스트 아인스튀어첸데 노이바우텐에 이르는 아티스트와 함께 작업하고 있다. 캠벨과 절친한 작곡가 존 존과의 작업은 지난 6년간 첼로를 위한 새로운 작품을 계속 탄생시켰다. 그리고 피에르 불레즈의 음악에 대한 그의 글이 <Arcana VII>에 실렸으며, 2015년 2월 캠벨을 위해 쓰여진 존 존의 모든 신작을 모은 앨범 <Hen to Pan>에도 글을 썼다.
현재 루체른, 말보로, 노스웨스트, Moah, 앙상블 디토, 하이델베르그-봄 페스티벌에 출연할 예정이며 CAG와 Tzadik 레이블에서 새로운 독주 앨범이 발매될 예정이다. 카네기 홀, 내셔널 갤러리, 크라너트 센터, 몬다비 센터, 케네디 센터에서 존존, 제이슨 에카르트, 데이비드 풀머가 그를 위해 쓴 신작으로 공연이 예정되어 있다. 제이는 8세 때 캘리포니아 버클리의 크로덴 스쿨에서 첼로를 시작했으며, 줄리아드 음악원에서 첼리스트 프레스 셰리를 사사를 받아 현재 아티스트 디플로마를 앞두고 있다.
Cellist Jay Campbell
Armed with a diverse spectrum of repertoire and eclectic musical interests, cellist Jay Campbell was named First Prize winner of the 2012 Concert Artist Guild auditions. He is the recipient of awards from the BMI and ASCAP foundations and has been heard on television, radio broadcasts and in concert halls around the world, including concerto appearances in Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Kultur und Kongresszentrum-Luzern, and the Aspen Music Festival.
Dedicated to the music of our time, Jay made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2013 performing the music of Tan Dun. Dedicated to the music of our time, he has collaborated with an array of artists ranging from composers including Elliott Carter, Pierre Boulez, Kaija Saariaho, and John Adams, to saxophonist Steve Coleman, to members of Radiohead and Einstürzende Neubauten. Jay's close association with John Zorn has resulted in over half a dozen new works for cello, and his article on the music of Pierre Boulez was recently published in Arcana VII. Hen to Pan, a feature disc with all new works written for him by Zorn, was released in February 2015
Recent and upcoming highlights include appearances at the Lucerne, Marlboro, Chamber Music Northwest, Moab, DITTO, and Heidelberger-Fruhling festivals; two new solo discs on the CAG and Tzadik labels; appearances at Carnegie Hall, National Gallery, Krannert Center, Mondavi Center, the Kennedy Center; and the premieres of new works written for Jay by John Zorn, Jason Eckardt, and David Fulmer. Jay began playing the cello at the age of 8 at the Crowden School in Berkeley, CA. and is currently an Artist Diploma candidate at The Juilliard School with Fred Sherry.
