피아니스트 : 윤디
피아니스트 윤디는 2000년 바르샤바에서 열린 쇼팽 국제 피아노 콩쿠르에서 우승하며 그야말로 혜성과 같이 등장했다.
우승할 당시 18세였던 윤디는 쇼팽 콩쿠르 사상 최연소 우승자이자 최초의 중국인 우승자로 기록되었다. 하지만 그가 더 많은 주목을 받았던 까닭은 15년 동안이나 공석이었던 우승자 자리를 심사위원 만장일치로 거머쥐었기 때문이다. 때문에 쇼팽은 윤디에 대해 거론할 때 빼놓을 수 없는 작곡가가 되었으며, 마찬가지로 윤디는 쇼팽의 음악의 스페셜리스트로 늘 꼽히고 있다. 쇼팽 탄생 200주년을 맞는 올해에는 폴란드 문화 예술에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 폴란드 정부로부터 1급 훈장인 ‘글로리아 아르티스’(Gloria Artis)를 수여 받기도 하였다.
정확한 테크닉과 풍부한 열정으로 인정받는 윤디는 마린스키 오케스트라, 베를린 필하모닉, 빈 필하모닉, 런던 심포니 오케스트라, 취리히 체임버 오케스트라, 필라델피아 오케스트라, 샌프란시스코 심포니, 토론토 심포니 오케스트라 등 세계 최정상의 오케스트라와 공연해왔다. 이외에도 암스테르담 콘세르트허바우, 퀴리히 톤할레, 로열 페스티벌 홀, 카네기 홀, 살레 플레옐, 로이 톰슨 홀, 산토리홀 등 전세계 주요 공연장에서 지속적으로 독주회를 펼치고 있는 연주자 중 한 명이다.
2010년 윤디는 쇼팽 탄생 200주년을 맞이하여 녹턴 전곡으로 이루어진 새 앨범을 발매했으며, 쇼팽 레퍼토리로만 프로그램으로 폴란드 바르샤바 내셔널 오페라 하우스에서 열린 쇼팽 탄생 200주년 기념 갈라 콘서트에 참여하였다. 또한, 홍콩, 베이루트, 에이트호벤, 런던, 도르트문트, 룩셈부르크, 아부다비, 뉴욕, 파리, 프랑크푸르트, 뮌헨, 밀라노, 도쿄, 서울 등 전세계를 순회하는 연주 투어가 3번이나 진행될 예정이다. 베이징 뮤직 페스티벌과 마카오 국제 뮤직 페스티벌에서의 초청 받았으며, 샌프란시스코 심포니와도 협연할 예정이다. 이밖에 베이징 National Centre for the Performing Arts 공연장 최초로 연주 실황 녹음이 진행된다.
윤디는 지금까지 8장의 음반과 DVD를 발매하였다. 특히, 2007년 녹음한 세이지 오자와 지휘의 베를린 필하모닉 협연은 중국인 최초라는 점에서 더욱 특별하다. 또한 프로코피예프 피아노 협주곡 2번과 라벨 피아노 협주곡 G장조는 평단의 극찬을 받았으며 그라모폰지 선정 ‘Editor’s Choice’에 선정되기도 하였다. 최근에는 그의 첫 EMI 음반인 쇼팽 녹턴 전곡이 발매되었다.
중국 충칭에서 태어난 윤디는 7살에 처음 피아노를 시작하였으며, 이후 셴첸 예술 학교에 진학하여 중국의 저명한 피아노 교사인 단 자오이를 사사하였다. 쇼팽 콩쿠르 우승 이후에는 하노버 국립음대에 진학하여 아리 바르디 밑에서 6년 동안 집중적인 피아노 교육을 받았다.

Yundi (formerly known as Yundi Li) was propelled on to the international music scene in 2000 when he won first prize at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. At 18 years of age, he was not only the youngest and first Chinese winner in the history of the prestigious competition, but also the first pianist to be awarded the first prize for 15 years. Since then, he has been regarded as a leading exponent of Chopin’s music. In recognition of his contribution to Polish culture, the Government of Poland presented a Gold Medal for Merit to Culture 'Gloria Artis' to Yundi in 2010, also the year of Chopin’s 200th anniversary.
Critically acclaimed for his technical precision and boundless enthusiasm, Yundi has collaborated with such prestigious orchestras as the Mariinsky Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In his regular recital tours, he has performed at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Zurich Tonhalle, Royal Festival Hall (London), Carnegie Hall (New York), Herkulesaal (Munich), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto), Suntory Hall (Tokyo) and the Verbier Festival (Switzerland).
Highlights in Yundi’s 2010/11 calendar include three international tours as well as return visits to the Beijing Music Festival, Macau International Music Festival and San Francisco Symphony. The season will also see the launch of a new CD recorded live at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the first live recording to emerge from the centre since its inception in 2007.
Yundi has released eight CDs and DVDs worldwide. In 2007, he became the first Chinese pianist to record live with the Berlin Philharmonic and Seiji Ozawa. The disc of Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major met with rave reviews and was named ‘Editor’s Choice’ by Gramophone Magazine. His first recording with EMI Classics, the complete Chopin Nocturnes, was released in March 2010.
Born in Chongqing, Yundi began piano studies at age seven. Soon after, he moved to Shenzhen, where he trained with Professor Zhaoyi Dan at the Shenzhen Arts School. Following his triumph at the Chopin International Piano Competition, he embarked upon six years of intensive musical studies at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover.
